Siegmund William “Bill” Proesch of Melba passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at his home due to natural causes. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Melba 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 112 Randolph Ave. Burial will follow at the Melba Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 11 at the Church in Melba and again from 10-10:45 a.m. Saturday, at the church prior to the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Bill was born on September 9, 1929 at home in Melba, Idaho to Sid and Ella Nichols Proesch. He attended Melba schools. He married his sweetheart Eva Gates on February 12, 1951. Together they raised 5 children on their dairy farm in Melba.
Bill farmed his whole life with the exception of the 2 years he spent in the Army. Bill had a passion for the outdoors, fishing, hunting, farming and family and friend activities. He was a life time member of the Melba Grange and pasted President of the Melba Senior Center.
The Proesch family was also honored with the Melba Family Legacy Award at the 2012 Melba Centennial for being one of the first families to settle in the Melba area, of which he was very proud. Bill never met a stranger. If anyone needed help he was right there for them.
Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife Eva of 50 years, his parents Sid & Ella Proesch and sister Ellen and many other relatives and friends. Bill is survived by his 5 children: Glenda & Hal Eytchinson of Melba, ID; Roberta & Joe Scott of Nampa, ID; Kristy Proesch of SLC, Utah; John & Rochelle Proesch of Melba, ID; Gerlyn Green of Nampa, ID; 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sisters: Katherine Berrett and Marie & Ray Thompson, Theresa & Robert Wagers and a brother Robert & Doris Proesch.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Melba Senior Center.
Bill prided himself in his family. He will be deeply missed. We love you Dad (Pa).
