On Tuesday, after senior breakfast, Bob Proesch of Melba met with Melba Senior Center coordinator Marty Nelson to present a check for $6500 to the center on behalf of the United Commercial Travelers.
The center has undergone some financial struggles in the past months and the donation couldn’t have come at a better time.
UTC says the money is to be spent as the center see fit.
“They can use the money for whatever they need,” said UTC member Proesch. ”The center got into some trouble and I knew that we could help and so we are.”
The money will go in helping supplement the nutrition program at the center that helps feed hundreds of people monthly.
