Wilma was born on June 1, 1915 at Howells, Nebraska to Frank and Caroline Eusterbrock. Wilma was next to the youngest of 10 children with 2 brothers and 7 sisters. She attended school in Howells, Nebraska. On January 9, 1940, Wilma married Edwin Vogel at Olean, Nebraska. They farmed in Nebraska and Idaho.
Wilma and Edwin established Vogel Farms in 1950 outside Kuna, Idaho. She was quite a pioneer, working alongside her husband helping milk the cows and bucking hay, while also canning, cooking, gardening and taking care of their children. She was a strong and independent woman who loved how people were shocked when she told them her age. Wilma wanted to live on her own until she died and with the help from her daughter was able to do that. Her legacy will live on with her 3 children and their spouses, 6 grandchildren and their spouses and 5 great-grandchildren and the farm still located in Kuna.
Wilma is survived by her daughters Caroline (Jim) Wood of Boise, Idaho; Mary (John) Walker of Weiser, Idaho and son Eddie (Debi) Vogel of Kuna; grandchildren Charlie (Sarah)Vogel of Sterling, Colorado; Ben (Tori) Vogel of Melba; Renee Walker of Boise; Janell (Chris) Lester of Kuna; Kyle (Taylor) Walker of Meridian, Idaho and Jacob (Stephanie) Vogel of Athol, Idaho; great-grandchildren Devin and Jared Vogel, Rebecca Vogel and Michael and Mathew Lester. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and all her brothers and sisters.
The family would like to thank the CNA, Dr. Wooten, Rella and staff of Weiser Memorial Hospital and therapist Leann for their extra care. The extended family of Wilma wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to daughter Mary Walker for care and devotion to her mother during the final years of her life. Wilma will be missed by all who knew her and will be in the hearts and minds of her family and friends forever.
