Rain, rain and more rain was in the forecast for Opening Day of Kuna Youth Softball & Baseball Association at Kuna Middle School last Saturday, but that did not keep the players and parents away.
There was a variety of free activities for the kids to participate in and a drawing for prizes that included Roaring Spring passes, pizza from Dominos and an IPOD Nano.
“Despite the weather we had a really good turnout,” said Zach Haws, President of the KYSBA. “Piggy backing picture day with Opening Day forced everyone out, so we had a really good turnout”.
The day was full of baseball games but unfortunately most games were cancelled because of the rain. Along with all the activities going on there were also pictures taken for each baseball team.
KYSBA is still looking for more volunteers and also FUTURE volunteers for next year’s season. “We are all nervous about what’s going to happen next year,” said Haws. “If we don’t have new help, new volunteers their won’t be baseball next year. We have to get more people involved.”
