Simon and Chris Vander Woude opened Pazzles in the fall of 1998 selling patterns for paper shapes used in scrapbooking. Over the next few years the need for pre-cut paper pieces became apparent. Chris, determined to find a way to meet this need, developed the technology and processes for cutting paper using technology previously only used in the sign making industry.
Before long it became apparent that there was a market for the system Chris had developed and Pazzles Creative Cutters were born. This revolutionary product could be connected to a computer, much like a printer, allowing electronically created patterns to be “printed” to the cutter. Besides paper, it could cut designs from sheets of sugar designed for cakes and could also be used for embossing, engraving, piercing and distressing. It can even cut balsa wood and aluminum.
By the spring of 2008, under the leadership of Simon & Chris’s son Jeremy Vander Woude, Pazzles released the first machine truly of their own design. “The Inspiration Creative Cutter was launched in 2008 and was the first of its kind in the paper crafting industry,” said Jeremy Vander Woude, president of Pazzles. Ten years after opening their doors Pazzles had new leadership and a new product that would put them on the world-wide map.
When the economy began to crumble in 2009 Pazzles continued to innovate by launching a subscription web service called Pazzles Craft Room. This service allowed customers from all over the world to get creative ideas, chat with fellow crafters, download new designs and get education and advice from Pazzles experts like Chris Vander Woude. Pazzles later started offering the Inspiration Creative Cutter at a discounted price, based on the length of their subscription term.
Today Jeremy and his wife Holly have taken over the family business. You can visit Pazzles at their new location where Holly has opened a store front called Inspiration Boutique. At Inspiration Boutique you can find many unique scrapbooking, paper crafting and stamp supplies, both for everyday use and designed specifically for use with electronic die cutters. Also available at Inspiration Boutique are a variety of scrapbook, paper craft and stamping classes for the beginner and advanced alike. While Pazzles continues to do the majority of their business over the internet and by distributors worldwide they love the opportunity to interact with customers who visit.
