The Kuna City Council met on April 16, 2013 to discuss regular city business. Approved in the consent agenda by a quorum of city council members (Briana Buban-Vonder Haar was absent) were the renewal of several alcohol licenses and multiple resolutions.
Approved for renewal of liquor, beer and wine licenses included Walgreens (869 E. Avalon St.), El Gallo Giro (482 W. Main St.), 4ES Bar (379 W. Main St.), The Arlene (459 W. Main St.) and Longhorn Lounge (458 W. Main St.).
Several resolutions were approved as well. A change in the sewer demand for Uptown Car Wash was approved. A pressure irrigation easement for Nick Hansen was approved as well. Also approved were authorizations for the mayor to execute lease agreements for city property with Big D Ranch (64.4 acres and 3.8 acres) and Provost Farms for a 42.7 acre parcel located at the NE corner of Ten Mile and Lake Hazel Roads.
Mayor Nelson proclaimed April, 2013 as Grange Month. The Kuna Grange has been in existence for over 100 years in the community.
Daniel Durrant, a local Boy Scout, presented plans for an Eagle Scout project to create an amphitheater for veterans in the city park.
In new business, and with what may become a contentious issue for the Butler subdivision, the City Council approved the acceptance of a bid for pressure irrigation lines to cross two roads giving the Butler neighborhood access to pressurized irrigation. A neighborhood meeting with the city is planned for later this month to discuss with residents the options they will have.
