Kay Kern 12/29/39 – 4/8/13
Kay Kern passed away on April 8, 2013, in Mesa, AZ, of natural causes.
Kay was born in Twin Falls, ID. and was raised and lived in Kuna, ID. She graduated from Kuna High School in 1958. She married Ronald Kern in 1963, whom she first met in 2nd grade. They celebrated their 49th Anniversary last August.
Kay was an avid artist with painting, sketching, and drawing. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, but especially flowers and gardening. She ensured all animals and birds had food and water wherever she was.
Kay was loving, encouraging, supportive, and compassionate to everyone she met. She never said anything negative about anyone or any situation, including her own.
Supporting Ron in his dream to become a pilot, they gave up everything and moved to Wenatchee, WA where that dream became a reality.
She worked for Sarah Coventry where she received many awards including Top Regional Salesperson, winning 2 trips to Hawaii.
After 15 years, she retired from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office in 1994.
Another dream Ron and Kay shared was to retire at 55 years of age, which they both accomplished. This allowed them to become snowbirds for 18 years, travelling to many warm locations, settling the majority of time in Mesa, AZ.
Kay is survived by Ronald L. Kern; husband, Dan Kern (WA); son, Melody Corber (ID); daughter, and Ronald A. Kern (ID); son, and her grandchildren Heather Kern, Harmony Corber, and Tony Kern.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Kingsley and Fairy Lowe, and brother, Lewis Lowe.
A viewing will be held on Monday, April 15th, from 6-8pm. Services were held at The Chapel of the Chimes in Meridian on Tuesday, April 16th, at 2:00pm, with graveside services following at Kuna Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Paul Baptist Church (Boise, ID).
