When we read the interview with new Fire Chief Stephen Rinaldi in last week’s paper, we didn’t realize that we would soon have the occasion to see him in action. Saturday night, a large shop/storage building that we own and rent out burned to the ground. This was alarming on its own, but was doubly frightening because it was located very near to a home that we also rent out and to our personal residence. The fire department responded quickly, but there was nothing they could do to save the building due to the nature of the structure and how quickly the fire consumed it. They were, however, able to ensure that there was no serious damage to those other structures, and we sincerely appreciate their efforts. We were very impressed with the professional, thorough, and considerate manner in which the Chief conducted the fire operations that evening and the investigation the next morning. We believe that Kuna made an excellent hire in Chief Rinaldi.
