Sunday, March 31, Melba Fire Department hosted the 36th annual Melba Firemen’s Easter Breakfast. Over thirty volunteers joined the effort to serve about 665 people a pancake, egg and sausage breakfast.
“People come from Melba and surrounding areas, as far as Boise,” said Fire Chief John Engle. “Since 9-11 people really began supporting things like this and it has been consistent ever since.”
The annual breakfast includes several raffles. Many items were raffled off including a quilt made by Kuna’s Dick Brewer, a rifle, BBQ and other items donated.
Money raised from the event goes to support the Melba Fire Department Burn Out fund, provide clothing for the volunteer first responders as well as support various events supported by the Melba Fire and QRU. This is the main annual fundraiser for the department.
Melba Fire and QRU are thankful to the sponsors of the event including Simplot Food Group, H & M Meats, Westma, United Dairymen of Idaho, Printwright, Dick Brewer, J & M Sanitation and Campbell Tractor.
