Mustangs lose 13-3 to Weiser Wolverines
Mustangs wound up on the wrong side of a 13-3 score on Saturday, April 6, at Weiser, tasting defeat at the hands of Weiser Wolverines.
Mustangs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. A double byTee Archuleta, bringing home Kayden Davies started the inning off. Mustangs pushed more runs across when Archuleta scored on a sacrifice fly by Lyle Knight.
The game’s last lead went to Weiser Wolverines thanks to a first inning rally that saw eight runs cross the plate on a two-run double by Grothaus and five errors.
After pushing across one run in the top of the second, Mustangs faced just a 8-3 deficit. An RBI single by Svedin gave Mustangs life. But, Deyoung got Davies to strike out to end the inning.
The McCall-Donnelly Vikings fall 9-2 to Mustangs
The McCall-Donnelly Vikings didn’t put up much of a fight on Friday, April 5, as Mustangs cruised to a blowout 9-2 win in seven innings at Melba. Mustangs scored three runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Austin Warfield, an error, and Kayden Davies got a hit in each of his three at bats. He singled in the first, second, and sixth innings.
Warfield’s 12 strikeouts helped Mustangs to the victory. Warfield allowed two earned runs, five hits and no walks over seven innings.
Mustangs never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on an RBI double by Tee Archuleta and an error. Mustangs built upon its lead with two runs in the second. A clutch error scored Davies to open the scoring in the frame.
Mustangs matched its one-run fourth inning with one more in the fifth. In the fourth, Mustangs scored on an RBI double by Archuleta, scoring Davies.
Mustangs fall 15-5 to Marsing Huskies
Despite seven hits, Mustangs lost 15-5 to Marsing Huskies on Tuesday, April 1, at Marsing. Austin Warfield led Mustangs’ offensive threat, as he got on base two times in the game. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He doubled in the fourth inning.
Austin Williams recorded the win for Marsing Huskies. He tossed three innings of shutout ball. Williams struck out five, walked one and gave up one hit. The Marsing Huskies were sparked by Logan Jarvis and Jr. Gonzales, who teamed up for five hits and six RBIs.
The game was never in doubt after the first, as Marsing Huskies scored five runs on three errors and an RBI single by Jarvis. Three runs in the top of the fourth helped the Mustangs close its deficit to 9-3. A two-run error and an RBI single by Tyson Christensen gave Mustangs life. Cody Svedin flew out to end the Mustangs threat.
Mustangs scored one run in the top of the fifth to cut its deficit to six. An RBI single by Lyle Knight set off Mustangs rally. Larsen ended the inning by getting Ty Stimpson to strike out.
One run in the top of the sixth helped Mustangs close its deficit to 13-5. A walk by Warfield sparked Mustangs’ rally.
