Mustangs shut the door early on the Glenns Ferry Pilots in game two of a doulb header, capturing a 10-0 victory on Saturday at Melba.
The game was decided quickly as Mustangs exerted its will early with five runs in the first three innings.
A solo home run by Adam Saurey and an error during the first inning supplied the early offense for Mustangs.
Saurey had two extra-base hits for Mustangs.
Mustangs’ Austin Warfield kept the Glenns Ferry Pilots off the scoreboard for all five innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out five.
Mustangs was sparked by Saurey and Warfield, who teamed up for three hits and four RBIs.
They won the first game 14-4 in six innings as well.
Mustangs scored five runs in the fourth on a passed ball, an RBI single byLyle Knight, a groundout by Danny Talbot, an error, and an RBI single byForrest Knight.
Adam Saurey went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for Mustangs. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the second and fourth innings.
Forrest Knight got the win for Mustangs. He allowed four runs over four innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered three hits.
Mustangs hammered the Glenns Ferry Pilots pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 12 hits, eight RBIs and 12 runs scored.
The top of the first saw the Glenns Ferry Pilots take an early lead, 3-0. AfterEdy Mesillas singled, Jack Riggs homered, scoring Mesillas and Jarrett Willis.
After posting two runs in the first, Mustangs again scored two in the sixth. In the first, Mustangs scored on an RBI single by Austin Warfield, plating Saurey.
Mustangs stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring four runs on an RBI double by Warfield, a groundout by Tee Archuleta, and two singles.
