Melba Mustangs and Wells Leopards (NV) both had scoring chances on Friday, but it was Mustangs that was able to capitalize on them as it pulled out a 4-2 win at Glenns Ferry.
Leopards had five hits compared with Mustangs’ two, but Wells stranded nine runners on base.
Mustangs staved off Wells Leopards NV as Wells Leopards NV was unable to match Mustangs down the stretch.
Wells scored on an RBI single by Soriano in the third inning and a passed ball in the fifth inning. Still, Wells couldn’t draw even.
Tee Archuleta recorded the win for Mustangs. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out 12, walked four and surrendered five hits.
Mustangs didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the first inning when it scored on a groundout by Adam Saurey.
Mustangs tacked on another three runs in the second. Steven Murraysingled, bringing home Ty Stimpson to start the inning.
