Paul Schepper is this years Grange Firefighter of the Year. Schepper has been a volunteer firefighter since 2008 and in 2011 he was put on full time at the Kuna Rural Fire Department. At first Schepper only wanted to be a firefighter and not have anything to do with the ambulance, but to be a firefighter in Kuna it is required to attend an EMT class. After attending EMT class, he discovered he loved the medical side of it he didn’t want to just stop there so he went on and got his paramedic certification.
Last Friday Schepper on his day off went to Hubbard Elementary and taught an ERR class to about 12 special needs students who often don’t get such educational visits from area emergency providers. “It feels good to go help out those kids that might not have the chance to see what we do,” said Schepper. “I just love my job, I am glad I get to be here”
