The Kuna School District Instrument Petting Zoo was held Tuesday April 30, 2013 at Teed Elementary from 5:00pm-7:30pm. This was an opportunity for all 5th graders in the Kuna school district to see, hear and play the band/orchestra instruments of their choice for 6th grade. Dorsey, Dunkley and Blue Rider music stores volunteered their time and assisted 100’s of student. Students were able to handle and even play a variety of string and band instruments and ask questions. Parents were provided with information regarding brands and purchase plans and given information about the value of music in a student’s education. Many of the KHS band/orchestra students volunteered their time to help the 5th graders choose instruments and even give a few mini lessons. The KHS Chamber Ensemble, led by KHS senior, Jedd Greenhalgh, also performed.
The Kuna SD music department is also looking into offering a FREE Head Start Beginning band/orchestra camp in early August to help incoming 6th graders learn all about their new instrument. Guests from local music stores will also be at the camp. More information will be coming soon. Questions?
