Organizes water rescue training for local
Fourteen Kuna Rural Fire District Firefighters/EMS personnel and four Kuna Police Department deputies participated in water rescue training in Indian Creek at Bernie Fisher Park on Saturday, May 18th.
The instructors for the class were, Sgt. Tom Briggs-Ada County SO Dive Team Coordinator, Deputy Rob Fowler and Kevin Horan – Public Safety Officer and Dive Search Coordinator.
This training provides emergency responders with basic skills in deploying rope throw bags to effect a rescue of a swimmer in distress. Due to the temperatures associated with area waterways, a personal flotation device should always be worn when operating around the water. A swimmer will only have approximately 10 minutes of purposeful movement to stay afloat to save themselves or allow time for responders to assist them.
