Austin Blankenburg Cummins, age 20, died of injuries on Saturday in Boise from injuries he sustained on Friday night at approximately 10:19 p.m. at a Boise bench home near South Orchard and Cassia Streets.
According to Boise Police, a relative of Cummins, Derick L. Sedivy, age 23, has been arrested in connection with the shooting and has been charged with felony involuntary manslaughter. Boise Police say that alcohol was a factor in the accidental shooting.
Cummins, who had attended Kuna High School was a prominent fixture at the corner of Deer Flat and Linder Roads in Kuna where he worked for Papa Murphy’s as an energetic sign shaker.
“I know that he put a smile on many passing by on a daily basis,” said Kuna’s Brooke Ash.
“We get a lot of kids coming through our doors at KHS,” said KHS’s Nancy Stauffer. “Austin was one that stuck with you, one you thought about often, one I will always remember and think of him with fond memories. I’m really going to miss that kid.”
Funeral services will be held at Kuna High School, Performing Arts Center, at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013 with burial following at Kuna Cemetery.
