Kuna Hardware has been one of the oldest businesses on Main Street since the early 1950’s. Darryl and Janet Warwick purchased the business in 1977 and became a True Value Hardware outlet. Their son Ron Warwick became the owner twenty years ago. His daughter Jordan, a recent graduate from Boise State University, has worked there off and on since she was five years old. For the last 36 years Kuna True Value Hardware has been a solid family owned business in Kuna.
“We’ve been here a long time and we’re not planning on going anywhere,” said owner Ron Warwick.
Over the years the Warwicks have run a successful business. They feel a lot of this has to do with great customer service and a knowledgeable staff. Every person that walks in the door is greeted personally and knows that the staff is there to help them. However, as good as business has been, they’ve had to learn to overcome some obstacles too.
“One of our bigger challenges is limited parking out on Main Street,” said Ron. “Not everyone knows we have parking in the back.”
Along with selling typical hardware, plumbing and electrical items, they have added underground sprinkler supplies, gardening necessities, fishing tackle, ammunition, key duplication, paint and bike accessories. Their most recent addition is a vast array of specialty fasteners and a large bolt selection.
“People are surprised to find our prices are competitive with those of the big box stores,” said Ron.
Also Kuna True Value Hardware likes to help their community as well. For the last 30 years they have been providing a service as the collection point for the water bill payments from residents of the Desert View subdivision because they run on a different water system as the rest of the city. They also donate items to the FFA fundraiser auction and give support to different community and school organizations.
Kuna True Value Hardware is located at 467 West Main Street in Kuna and can be reached at 922-5621. They are open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
