District Three School Board Approves Salary Increases for Teachers

The board of trustees of Joint Class A School District No 3. Have approved a schedule of salary increases for the 31 teachers of the district. Teachers having two or three years of training will receive a $200 raise’ those with BA degrees will receive $400 and those having a MA degrees $500. Mrs. Alma Pethtel, school clerk, said that contract have been offered to Marvin Stokes of Moscow to teach agriculture and Miss Rita Novell to teach English and Social Studies.  Miss Novell will graduate from Graceland College in Iowa this spring.

Melba Artists Are Helping Create Idaho Centennial Mural for June Display

Mrs. Rose Grover and Mrs. Robert Forney, who are members of the Nampa Art Guild, are participating in creating the Centennial mural, which will be on display in various Nampa business places in June. The mural which, when finished, will measure eight feet square, depicts one hundred years of Idaho history. Mrs. Grover will paint Fort Sherman, Craters of the Moon and other pictures. Mrs. Forney will contribute a trading post picture, also an Indian Scene. Pictures from the Guild are on display now at the M & W Market at the Holly Shopping Center, which also includes paintings done by Melbans. In May, during the display at the First National Bank Annex on the Albertson’s parking lot. Mrs. Grover along with other Guild paintings. Mrs. Forney’s work will be on display later in the summer.
