The Melba men’s track and field team managed to garner a 3-way tie for second at the state track & field meet this past weekend with a strong showing among the field sports.
Senior Micah Spatz with a time of 15.03 seconds placed second in the 110 Meter Hurdles. He also placed first in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 40.02 seconds and second in the pole vault with a height of 13 feet. Sophomore Dylan Pease placed fourth in the pole vault. In the long jump Manny Medrano placed fifth with a distance of 19’ 11.5” and Wyatt Helm placed 8th. Wyatt Helm won first in the triple jump with a distance of 44’ 4.5”. Holden Fiscus placed 9th in shot put with a distance of 43’ 10.5”. Melba placed fourth in the 1600 sprint medley with a time of 3:50.03.
In women’s track, Sierra Manzer placed sixth in the 800 meter run with McKelle Leavitt placing 9th. Sierra Manzer also placed 4th in the 1600 meter run and Anysja Manzer placed 10th. In the 3200 meter run Sierra Manzer ran a time of 11:55.21 and placed third. Baily Helm took 7th in high jump with Payton Grover (8th) and Amanda Grover (9th) in pole vault.
