Melba Senior Living

Our Center is looking very nice after our wonderful volunteer Lindy Maynard stripped and waxed the dining room floor.  At the ‘Clean up Melba’ day volunteers Janet Strom and Jerry Sjaastad cleaned out our garage that was filled with clutter. The only things in the garage are the freezers (that the Webster’s are so graciously letting the Center use) and the Center’s Van.  It looks pretty nice. The ‘Back Room Bargains’ store changes every week by all the fun exciting things that are donated and by things going out to some lucky buyer thanks to Evelyn Mabey. We replaced our out-of-date computer that was a threat to crashing with a new one that will actually do all the things required by the organizations overseeing the Senior Centers. Plus we now have a reliable back-up system for all our documents. There are always so many reports to email and now we are able to accomplish that. We received donated printer-fax machines, a newer monitor, key board and software so we feel pretty safe and up-to-date. We received word that some money that was being kept from all the Senior Centers will be received now. There are so many nice volunteers that help at the center, Rosie Peck, Linda Morton-Keithley, Kathy Skelton, Deloris Hoagland, Evelyn and Harry Mabey, Judy Stacy, Marty Nelson, Butch and Barbara Webster, and Vera Blanksma (be sure and check out what Vera is doing on the Memorial Board’s – she is bringing them up to date!).  If you haven’t come by the Center you should as there is always a smiling face and someone ready to help out. Since this is Doris Van Schoiack and Carolyn Nelson’s last week please stop in and reminisce with them. You can meet the nicest people at breakfast and lunch and learn just how small a world this really is. Speaking of volunteers – we’re looking for those that can help assist with a dinner on the 4th of July.
