The Kuna 15U All-Star team played two games on Friday, June 07, 2013, losing the first and taking the second in a game that came down to the wire.
They lost the first game to Treasure Valley by a score 3-2. Danny Green pitched three solid innings, holding Treasure Valley to only one run, but he didn’t get enough out of his offense to get a decision in the game. Kuna scored first in the game in the bottom of the first after Hunter Crownover was hit by a pitch. Crownover stole second, and then advanced to third after the pitcher walked the bases full. First basemen Parker Miller hit an RBI single to score Crownover from third.
In the top of the second, Treasure Valley struck back, scoring on a mishandled ball by Masen Andreasen. Kuna managed to get Treasure Valley’s pitcher off the mound after he issued Kuna 3 walks, and hit 3 batters with pitches.
In the top off the third, Shortstop Masen Andreasen hit a lead-off double, but never crossed the plate as the hitters below him all got out.
In the top of the fifth, Treasure Valley scored two runs on an RBI single, making the score 3-1. In the bottom of the fifth, Masen Andreasen started off the inning, getting walked. Parker Miller then struck out. With Kyle McPeak at the plate, Nampa’s pitcher threw a pickoff move to get Andreasen at first base and put Kuna down to their last out. McPeak and Summit Nell were both walked, bringing Brady Barroso to bat. Barroso advanced to second with a double, scoring McPeak and moving Nell to third. Danny Green took a walk, leaving the bases loaded for Tren Halladay. Tren Halladay hit a grounder to the third basemen, who threw it to the catcher for the final out of the game, leaving the final score at 3-2.
The next game was a struggle for the Kuna pitchers, who gave up 10 total runs, and four in the first inning. In the first inning, Kuna started quick trying to gain ground after falling in a 4-0 hole. Harris Villanueva hit a single, and then stole second. Villanueva would advance to third on a wild pitch, then score on Masen Andreasen’s groundout. Parker Miller singled on a ground ball to left field then scored on a dropped third strike. Parker Miller kept it going in the bottom of the 2nd, hitting an RBI single, which scored Hunter Crownover. In the bottom of the third, Tren Halladay hit a ground ball that scored Brady Barroso.
Then in the bottom of the fourth, the last inning due to time, down 10-4, the Kuna All-Star team needed a rally. Harris Villanueva started things off with a single to left field, and then stole second. Gabe Bollschweiler then grounded out to 3rd base, but advance Villanueva and Masen Andreasen to 3rd and 2nd base. Villanueva would then score on a wild pitch. Kyle McPeak hit a single to right field, which scored Andreasen. Summit Nell was walked, putting runners at first and second. Brady Barroso hit a single, loading the bases for Danny Green, who hit a sacrifice fly to left field, putting the score at 10-7, Caldwell. Tren Halladay got on base after being hit by a pitch, once again loading the bases, this time for Riley Dunkley. Dunkley singled on a ground ball to left field, scoring Nell and Barroso, making the score 10-9. Hunter Crownover then singled on a high fly ball, scoring Tren Halladay, and tying the game. The pitcher then walked the bases full; only to eventually walk home the winning run, Riley Dunkley, sealing the miraculous comeback.
