Smartsheet, a Bellevue, Wash.-based technology company, has announced that it is granting $5,000 each to five Idaho high school math and English teachers, including Barb James, a teacher from Kuna High School. Other schools receiving the grants include Canyon Springs High School, Grangeville High School, Timberline High School and Capital High School.
The educators, who are being recognized for their inspiring work and excellence in teaching, were nominated by students who submitted 100-word essays expressing why their teacher deserved the classroom grant. Smartsheet kicked off its classroom grants program in Idaho and plans to extend the program to other areas in the coming years.
With its grant program, Smartsheet is hoping that other start-up companies will be challenged and inspired to support their local schools and invest in the future workforce.
