On a regular basis I pass by the Walnut Creek subdivision on Ten Mile Road between Deer Flat and Hubbard. The thing I notice when I pass by is that the American flag that flies at the entrance to the subdivision is extremely tattered and faded. Although I certainly applaud the flying of the flag, I find it disrespectful to fly a flag in that condition. Even though the signs indicate that this is a Corey Barton project, I assume that the subdivision also has a Homeowners Association that is responsible for the grounds and landscaping, which must include the flag. The American Legion or the Boy Scouts of American could assist the Association in retiring and disposing of the old flag so that a new one can be raised. It seems so little effort and expense to show the proper respect to the flag of our still great nation.
