Starting next month, Kuna residents will see a change on their utility bills. As the city continues to streamline billing, irrigation assessments will be combined with the water, sewer and trash bills. According to city treasurer John Marsh, because of the merging of the database files, city residents who once were billed an annual assessment for irrigation will see that amount spread out across 12 monthly payments.
“People will not be able to prepay their annual irrigation bill,” Marsh said. “Any irrigation assessment payment in full will be applied to the other utility billing first.” He explained that if someone were to pay their irrigation assessment in full as they have in the past, this would make a credit to their overall utility account. Future month’s utility bills would be taken out of this credit first when they come due.
As Marsh explained to city council at the July 2, 2013 meeting, these changes might confuse some residents. He said that prior to the August bill the city will post a more thorough explanation of the new utility billing on the city website (http://www.kunacity.id.gov).
