Kuna School Board Opening
The Kuna Jt. School District is taking applications from interested residents to fill the vacancy in Zone 3 created with the resignation of Trustee Kevin Gifford and to serve his remaining term that expires July 1, 2017.
The Kuna School District serves approximately 5,000 students and provides vital educational services to the community. You must be a resident of zone 3 in addition to other qualifications listed on their website the board is looking for.
The Board of Trustees meets monthly on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Kuna Jt. School District Office.
To indicate your interest in filling the Zone 3 vacancy, please complete the application form available on the district website or from the District Office located at 711 E. Porter Street, Kuna, ID 83634.
Applications are due to the District Office no later than August 30, 2013.
Unemployment Up in Idaho
Despite job growth in June, statewide unemployment rose two-tenths of a percentage point to 6.4 percent. This is the second straight month of rising unemployement following 21 months during which the rate steadily fell more than two full percentage points.
According to the Idaho Department of Labor, “The number of workers off the job increased nearly 1,900 to over 49,000, the highest total since last November. The number of employed dropped 400 to under 724,000, the lowest level since last October. The surge in total unemployment in part reflected an increase of over 1,400 people entering labor force in June and looking for jobs.”
“While Idaho jobs increased 2.3 percent in the past year compared to 1.6 percent nationally, the Current Population Survey found an average of 170,000 of Idaho’s employed workers held part-time jobs – 23 percent of total employment. In addition over 6 percent of total employed poppulation were working more than one job.”
