It’s time to get barefoot and buckwild! Last year’s American Country Awards Best New Artist, Lauren Alaina, has signed up to make a tour stop here in Kuna. The world met the 18-year-old Georgia girl in 2011 when she appeared on American Idol. Her performances helped to propel the show into one of the most popular yet. A record-breaking 122.4 million votes were cast in the finale. Despite not taking home the gold from American Idol, she did take home a major record deal that cut her first album and sent her on the road that now leads to Kuna.
Lauren started singing in the back of her mom’s car and started performing at her grandma’s restaurant to the tune of a very used karaoke machine. By the age of eight she had won the Southern Stars Pageant and by ten the American Model and Talent Competition. After gaining national attention on American Idol she headed to Nashville where she recorded her first album Wildflower. Her first single from that record “Like my Mother does” hit the Billboard charts at 49 and sold 121,000 copies in the first week of its release. In 2012 she was the opening act for Jason Aldean’s My Kind of Party tour. Lauren is noted for her unstoppable enthusiasm and she definitely hit the ground running. This year she showcased the first single off her second album. “Barefoot and Buckwild” has rocketed to the top of the country charts.
Now the country celebrity is heading to Kuna to help us celebrate the 50th anniversary of Kuna Days. Joining Lauren on an outdoor stage will be Kuna’s own musical talent the Whiskey Creek Band as well as Idaho’s own Joe Allen.
Cowgirls in Kuna; Show starts at 7:30 Friday, August 2nd. Tickets are $10 and available at IC Tickets or the door the night of the concert.
