Bill was born on July 2, 1926, in Melba, Idaho. Son of Will and Bertha Eichenberger, he was the youngest of eight children. Inventor of a revolutionary cable drum and spring fitting for opening overhead garage doors, Bill founded Pacific Spring of Portland, Oregon in 1961 and was founder and CEO of American Power Unit Corporation of Media and Toledo, Ohio. Bill was an enthusiastic sportsman, pilot and boater. He was captain of Krazy Ike. In retirement, he resided in the “fisherman’s paradise,” Punta Gorda, Florida. He died on November 13, 2012 in Media, Pennsylvania.
Margie was born on June 10, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio. Daughter of Earl and Mildred Mittendorf, Margie had two sisters and a brother. She was the executive secretary for 20 years at American Power Unit Corporation before retiring to Punta Gorda with Bill. Margie was an accomplished quilter, enthusiastic crafter, and loved to raise orchids. She died May 12, 2003 in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Bill and Margie were married for 31 years. They were members of the First United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda and were dedicated civic volunteers and philanthropists.
They are survived by three children, six grand children, and seven great-grand children.
