THE Kuna Gold Band & Guard kicked off their 2013 season with a great performance down Main Street in the Kuna Days Parade on Saturday, August 3rd. The summer has been filled with fundraising activities, including several Begging Nights in which students went door to door collecting donations. The band would like to thank everyone who made a donation as we were able to purchase several instruments with the money collected.
The band started their two week band camp on Monday, August 5th. They begin each day with practicing their marching technique and teaching incoming band students how to march, and reminding most of the returning members too. Throughout the day they participate in many activities ranging from team building, learning the music and drill for the show, and just having fun. Band camp runs Monday through Friday for two weeks straight, from 9 am to 9 pm.
They will end their band camp with their Fall Preview Barbeque where they will be displaying their two weeks’ worth of hard work and enjoy delicious food! And the best part? The community is invited! Come out to Kuna High School and see what we’ve been working on! The preview is going to be on Friday, August 16th at 7 pm. Join us for an evening of food, fun, and music! If you are planning on eating, the cost is $5 per person plus a potluck side item to share. Hope to see you there!
The band is also holding a fundraising yard sale on Saturday, August 17th. If you would like to contribute items start collecting items now. More information next week on where to drop them off. Keep an eye out for more of the goings on for THE Kuna Gold Band and Guard!
