Pat Jones, Chairman,
Kuna Days 2013
All I can say is WOW! What a great fireworks show Lloyd Stubbs and the crew from Fireworks America did for Kuna Days. Best show I have seen to date. If you happen to see Lloyd around tell him great job. We all should also be thankful the donation the city gave to the fireworks. The show wouldn’t have been as good without it. Please let Brianna, Joe, Doug, and Rich (our city council members) know you appreciated their support for this event.
I would like to say thank you to our main sponsors: El Gallo Giro (thanks Enrique and Ana), Les Schwab of Kuna/Meridian/Nampa South, Red Eye Bar & Grill, Affordable Transmission, Anytime Fitness, and Kuna Chiropractic. Make sure we all patronize these businesses in the future to continue to receive their support for Kuna Days.
It was unfortunate to have some businesses come and hang banners, drive or walk through the event trying to sell things without giving anything back to the event. I don’t know why they feel that they can come and try to make it look like they were part of the event when they weren’t. I sure hope they think about how wrong that is. The bad part about it all was that some of them were from Kuna.
Moving on, did all you kids enjoy the FREE kids’ carnival on Saturday? The Kuna Days Committee strives to keep this part of the event free. Almost all other events I attend with a kid’s carnival they always charge for entry or tickets. We all should thank the businesses that allow this event to be free. They are: Idaho Pizza Company, Alpha Home Systems, Freedom Fitness, Tree Monkey Landscaping and Wild Fire Prevention, Advanced Family Medicine, Kuna Chevron, Gold n Craft, Pool Doctor, Kids Independent Day School, and last but not least Integrity Insurance. Next time you’re in there tell them thanks for allowing us to have a place to play for free. There are also several people that help the kids’ carnival operate smoothly. We all should offer a big thanks to Annie Truden and Sean, Steven Robert, Riley Mitchell, Audrey Jo, Christi Bruegeman Kilmore, Anthony Ferrar, Genesis Milam Milan, Tree Monkey Landscaping owner Dustin Polenetz, Christian Brown, and Baron Brown. Now there is one last person we should all thank and her name is Nova Yarnell. Nova coordinates this event as a volunteer and her biggest concern is making sure the kids are happy. We couldn’t ask for a better person with a bigger heart. Thanks Nova from all of us! Great Job!
I would like to thank Sean and Trina Stroebel from CP Audio for a wonderful job they did with all the sound. The band shell, fireworks and movie night rocked! Speaking of movie night, thanks to Mark and Karri from the Kuna Melba News for making the movie night happened. This was the first year and I sure hope it’s not the last.
Now I didn’t get to see the parade but I heard everybody had a great time. I did get to see some Firemen getting doused with water by Joe Stear in front of Kuna Machine Shop. I am sure they weren’t expecting that much water. Sherry Maestas and the Chamber of Commerce did a great job of organizing the parade. It’s great to be able to count on them and not having to worry on making sure the parade happens. Thank you Sherry. Great Job!
Did everybody see the lady that was making sure the sidewalk at Ave B was safe to cross on Saturday? Her name is Cami Post and she did that all out of kindness. Nobody asked her to do it and she just showed up and did it. Cami, that was wonderful and no amount of thanks can show my appreciation.
Thanks to Chad and all the guys from J&M Sanitation making sure all the trash gets disposed of. They do this for free every year. Thanks to Kenny Carver, Coach Lee, Coach BJ, and the Kuna High football players for organizing and coming out and helping us. They did a great job of helping set up and making sure the park was clean Saturday and Sunday morning. Thank you very much! Thanks to Leann Day for designing our poster. Thanks to Shauna Ramos and all the girls from Soccer Express for getting them out there.
I would like to send a big thanks to Chris Engels from the city’s clerk office. Chris you were great to work with making sure we got all of our permits taken care of. I appreciated all of your efforts and look forward working with you in some type of way in the future.
Last I cannot express my sincere thanks to everyone that came out. The pride that I have for Kuna is why I volunteer for Kuna Days. It was great to see such a huge turnout. Probably was one of the biggest ever. Thank you everybody. Thank you all for patronizing the vendors. They are a big reason why Kuna Days happens and your support for them was appreciated. Thank you all who attended the Boy Scouts pancake breakfast. I heard it was the most they ever had. Thank you all for your donations during the fireworks.
Thank you everybody.
