The Kuna Homecoming King and Queen were announced at halftime of the Kuna-Emmett football game on October 11, 2013. Star football player Spencer Trautman was named King and Kaitlin Tookey was named Queen.
Earlier in the day, in the Kuna High School gym, each class performed a skit with cheerleaders performing as well. The teachers all dressed up as Duck Dynasty characters and performed a skit. Students dressed up in costume which included the Mario Bros. and the obligatory young men in drag.
The event was not without controversy, however, and almost incited a riot. Allegedly the Junior class had secretly video taped or gotten wind of the senior class skit and copied large portions of it for their own. Since the juniors went first in the competition, it made a lot of seniors very upset. “Fightin’ words” were said. It took Coach Lee Leslie and his commanding presence to calm down the situation in the gym. The seniors still won the competition.
There was also a cake eating competition where each class put up a contestant. Again, the senior class representative won. Best posters were won by the junior class.
At 3 p.m. the high school held their Homecoming parade. Residents lined up and down Main Street as the band, high school organizations, the other school sports teams, and each class had floats. Winners were announced at the Kuna-Emmett football game that evening. The volleyball team won top honors for their float.
