Melba Valley Historical Society Program

1:21 pm October 2nd, 2013

By Madge Wylie

The final program of the Melba Valley Historical Society for the 2013 season will be held at 1:30 on Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Senior Citizen Center following the noon meal. It will feature Ted Webb who will talk about growing up in Melba and about his dad’s drug store. It was a family business in which all the kids participated and in which Ted decided to follow in his father’s footsteps.

The Melba Drug Store was the social center of Melba for 40 years, beginning at the same time as the beginning of World War II. It was the only place where there was a phone at one time. The druggist was also the doctor most of the time. He applied purple goop to all the sore throats, bandaged sprained ankles and even delivered a baby once.

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the program.

Come early and enjoy the Senior dinner.
