Nearly two weeks ago the Melba community lost one of its young student athletes, Nick Martinez, in an accident. In efforts to help support and uplift the Martinez family, the high school cheerleading team has decided to put together baskets to auction off at our own high school basketball games to be held on Thu Dec 12 & Fri Dec 13. All proceeds from the sales of these baskets will be given to the Martinez family to offset costs of Nick’s funeral and burial.
One basket is themed “Family Time” and will include board games, movies, treats, blankets,
gift cards, etc. The other basket will be themed “Ultimate Sports Fan” full of game tickets, team gear, blankets, gift cards, etc. Basket auctions for the community auction have been very popular in the past and the hope is to see great support and generosity in this effort.
The Melba High Cheerleaders are willing to pick up any donations or donations may be sent directly to the school. All donations, including cash donations to help purchase items, are greatly appreciated. Please contact Mrs. Richardson at firstname.lastname@example.org regarding any questions about donating.
Those interested in bidding on the baskets just need to be at halftime of the Melba varsity boys game vs. Homedale on Thursday, Dec 12 to bid on the “Ultimate Sports Fan” and the varsity girls game vs. Cole Valley on Friday, Dec 13 to bid on “Family Fun”.
Melba’s Varsity cheerleaders express big thanks
to all those who supported the donation collection held at girls’ basketball games the week before Thanksgiving for the Bartlome family. Over $160 was collected! We are so proud to belong to such giving communities! Thank you!
