Area ranchers and land owners met in Jordan valley for the end of the season wrap up of the Owyhee RFPA (Rural fire protection Assoc). Reports were filed from members of the seasons fire’s fought, and concerns of fighting fire on the Idaho, Oregon border.
Since states have different strategies’ for fire fighting, if an Oregon fire crosses the line into Idaho, fire crews and equipment such as dozers and water trucks, have to back down if they have not completed the required training.
To effectively fight fire, we need to join together and keep everyone safe ORFPA President Doug Rutan said. “If you physically cannot fight fire, you can drive a water truck. We need everyone willing to take the course.”
This past winter in coordination with the Boise BLM, Ranchers completed the course to safely fight wild land fire.
Owyhee RFPA member, Doug Burgess will be holding his annual bull sale at the ranch in Homedale on December 13. He has glacially donated a heifer to be auctioned off as a fundraising event. You can win the bid, “then” donate the heifer again until the last bidder wins. We’d appreciate the support of the community’s.
