The Ada County Highway District released its draft plan for the Kuna overpass last week and have chosen the Ten Mile Road extension as the preferred option for the crossing of the Union Pacific tracks and Indian Creek. The plan now will be considered for final adoption by ACHD and the city council of Kuna for a final decision on all options.
From a regional perspective, the 10 Mile Road overpass fulfills the master vision for the eventual five-lane arterial between I-84 and 4th Street in Kuna. The cost estimate of the bridge spanning approximately 625 feet is between $11.5 and $14 million. Using preliminary design calculations, the plan would require approximately nine full property acquisitions and a relocation of a sewer lift station.
The feasibility and implementation plan is the result of multiple public workshops held in Kuna in 2013 involving residents and business owners.

The implementation plan will be discussed at the next Kuna city council meeting on January 21 and at an ACHD meeting on February 5, at 6 p.m. in the ACHD auditorium at 3775 Adams Street in Garden City.
