The Girls State Program is designed to help young women to better understand city, county, state and federal governments. It is the aim of the American Legion Auxiliary to have a representative at Girls State from every Idaho High School. Eligibility to attend is limited to girls currently enrolled in the junior year of high school and who plan to graduate in 2015. The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors Girls State and the Auxiliary members make the final selection. Expenses associated with attending this program are paid or partially paid by a sponsoring American Legion Post. A local business or another community-based organization can contribute if they so wish. Post 142 Kuna had a plant sale and raffle that helps to support a partial scholarship. The size of the scholarship depends on how many delegates they sponsor. The fee for Girls State is now $350.00. They are hoping the girls whose parents want them to go will help with the fee for their daughters. An Idaho Syringa Girls State Interest Questionnaire will be sent to Mrs. Pruins’ office at Kuna High School within the next week. Please pick one up and
fill it out and return it to Mrs. Pruin on Feb 10th. You can check out Girl State on www.idahoala.org .
