Kuna Football Player Recovering
Elija Minnick, a Kuna High School football player, is recovering from a dangerous infection he contracted over the holidays. He spent New Year’s Eve in the hospital with a strep infection that put him in a coma for at least 9 days.
Coach Lee Leslie told KTVB that perhaps an earlier surgery last year on his appendix may have weakened his immune system. Both he and his brother got sick over the holidays but Elija seemed more affected by the infection and ended up in intensive care. Community members wishing to help the family can make donations at any U.S. Bank location.
Kuna Mayor Makes Two Proclamations in 2014
At the Kuna City Council meeting on January 7, 2014, Kuna Mayor Greg Nelson signed a proclamation declaring 2014 “The Year of Kuna Kids” honoring Kuna children declaring that this year children will be its first priority.
Nelson also signed a proclamation celebrating Kuna’s 150 year anniversary and declaring it to be the Sesquicentennial Anniversary Celebration for the city of Kuna.
This time of year things tend to slow down a bit and the news is no exception. We are limited to four page increments in our publication so we usually have to decide how many pages. Missing in this week’s print edition you will not find the horoscope, Soduko, or many of the community photos and information that we usually have because we’ve tightened up the space. For subscribers, you will be able to find some of those online. For readers, we will be saving and publishing other items in the weeks to come..
New this week you’ll find a partnership with the Idaho Humane Society to bring you a pet of the week sponsored by D&B Supply on page 7. We hope to bring you that every week. We have some great things in the works and are planning some major changes to our website. We’ll keep you informed as things proceed with those developments.
