Rafael J. Nava, 17, has been charged with forcible rape after officers investigated allegations made by a 16-year-old Kuna girl last weekend. The incident occurred at a party on Friday night at a home in the Linder/Hubbard Roads neighborhoods. The girl told detectives that she was likely dosed with some kind of drug which caused her to lose consciousness and kept her from being able to resist. She said the boy then had sexual contact with her against her will.
Detectives arrested Nava Sunday morning after doing interviews and collecting evidence in connection with the case. Originally charged as a juvenile and booked into the Ada County Juvenile Detention Facility, Nava was then waived over to the 4th District Court Monday, where he will be tried as an adult.
Some crimes in the state of Idaho can elevate juvenile suspects to be tried as adults according to Idaho Code 20-509 of the Juvenile Corrections Act.
