This past January, thirteen members of the Crafty Critters 4-H Club represented Ada County at the Idaho State Livestock Skillathon in Jerome, Idaho. Ada County represented itself well and members from Ada teams won many of the top awards.
The Ada 1 senior team excelled by placing first overall in the contest. This team was made up of Kristin Nesbitt, Mikaela Twait, and Christina Schram. All of these contestants placed in the top five for individuals. Mikaela Twait was 1st place individual, Kristin Nesbitt was 2nd place individual and Christina Schram was
5th place individual in the senior division. This team will be going to the National 4-H Skillathon this coming November in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Ada 2 senior team, consisting of Mitchell Beitia, Matthew Twait, and Caleb Twait, placed third overall. Matthew Twait was 3rd place individual and Mitchell Beitia was 4th place individual
in the senior division. The Ada 1 and Ada 2 teams also tied for first in team activities.
Competing on the Ada 1 junior team was Jake Beitia, Blake Phillips, Shay Johnson, and Olivia Sells. This team placed second overall in the junior division, only a few points behind the first place team. In addition, Jake Beitia was 1st place junior individual.

The contest went over a variety of general information on livestock including feed, equipment, breed and meat cut identification, hay and wool judging, quality assurance activities as well as a written test. These members, ranging in age from 9 to 17, worked hard to study for the competition since early December, spending hours with coaches Steve and Laura Wilder, Susi Larrocea-Phillips, Sonna Betts and Monte Janicek. Congratulations to all contestants for their success in Jerome.
