The Melba Gun Club is sponsoring a special Shoot and Gun Raffle to benefit Jamie Givens on Saturday, March 1 beginning at 11 a.m.
Jamie grew up in Melba and graduated from Melba High School. She is the daughter of Guy Givens and Peggy Koeppen. She is the granddaughter of everybody’s favorite Melba High School history teacher, Ruby Givens.
Jamie lives in Nashville, Tennessee where she is involved in theater productions and writes poetry. She visited in Melba last Fourth of July and then went home to find she had massive breast cancer. She has been undergoing treatments, which are very expensive, as everybody knows.
Guy is a long time friend of the Melba Gun Club and many of its members. The Club is very well-known for its philanthropic special shoots.
Among the raffle items up to now include a Henry Golden Boy .22 LR Model H004, a Savage Varmint 17 Mach 2 with a 10×40 Scope and a 1948 Winchester model 74.
For those who aren’t interested in guns there will be many other raffle items. They are $150 cash, a cord of firewood, a gift certificate from the Blue Sky restaurant valued at $25, a gift certificate from the Blue Canoe , $25 value, and a large gun case.
President Lou Mowan has asked for volunteers to work at the clubhouse that day. There will be a free potluck lunch, but you are asked to bring a dish if you plan to attend.
If you would just like to buy raffle tickets or give a donation for Jamie, you can contact Lou at 724-5347 or Ray Montgomery
You can get tickets at Cook’s Two-Hole Bar & Grill or Buck’s Saloon and Restaurant both in Melba or Tiny’s Bar in Nampa. Tickets are $1.00 each for any raffle prize including the guns.
