The Zone, Kuna’s free after-school program for at-risk youth, has been awarded an Idaho Power “Powering Tomorrow Grant.” Worth up to $1,500 each, the grants recognize innovative educational programs and community initiatives. In all, 32 organizations throughout the company’s Idaho and Oregon service area will receive grants.
“We’re in the fourth year of this campaign, and every year the work people are doing and the stories they tell get better and better,” said Idaho Power CEO Darrel Anderson. “We’re so proud to be able to help these organizations and give back to our communities.”
More than 130 organizations applied for this year’s grants via Idaho Power’s Facebook page. Facebook users were encouraged to vote for their favorites, and more than 105,000 votes were cast. Winners were chosen by considering the number of votes received as well as how many people the program serves,
how long it’s been in existence, and community need, among other criteria.
