The pace at the senior center seems to have slowed down somewhat after a rather hectic month. We still try to keep busy, though, with our Fit & Fall Proof classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 11:00 a.m. and cards on Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. I have yet to hear a pool cue hit a ball in the back room in the time I’ve been here! What gives with that? Are we ladies going to have to challenge you guys to a game? I’ll be the first to sign up on the ladies team – who will be the first guy?
Don’t forget, this Saturday, March 29, is the Owyhee County Historical Society Spring Bazaar in Murphy. It will be from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with the 3rd Annual Chili Cook-off hosted by the Murphy-Reynolds-Wilson Fire Department.
Also on March 29th will be the Melba Valley Historical Society’s open house at the museum in Melba. The hours for the open house are 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Make a day of it on Saturday and attend the open house, then take the short drive to Murphy for the bazaar and chili cook-off!
This will be the 22nd year for the Melba Fun Run, which begins in Kuna and ends at the Melba Valley Senior Center with a luscious chicken dinner and all the trimmings and a fun auction. That is when we also draw for the great raffle prizes that have been donated from generous businesses and people. That will be when we draw for the Ruger 10-22 Semi-Automatic Rifle. The drawing is sponsored by the Melba Fun Run, the rifle funded by Jerry Barr, and provided by Elite Firearms President Jerry Borchers. This is a big fund-raiser for our senior center and is well worth the time to eat the chicken dinner and see all the great cars that will be on display. Call us at 495-2168 if you’d like to by raffle tickets. You do not need to be present to win – but you do need to buy a ticket!
Happy Birthday goes out to Ruth Smith, March 26; Rhonda Huff, March 27; Ted Bracke, March 30; Tina McCormack, March 31; and June McCoy April 5.
