As the new coordinator of the Melba Valley Senior Center, I would just like to say how happy I am to be there. I love interacting with each of you during the week at the various functions that take place at the center. It’s been a busy month for all of us, which is a good thing.
We just completed our Property Tax Reduction applications, thanks to the Canyon County Assessor’s Office, and Saturday was our monthly Food Pantry. We regularly hold a Food Pantry on the second Saturday each month. Anyone in the community is invited to participate. This Thursday is the regular meeting of the Melba Historical Society following our noon lunch. Former Lt. Governor and Attorney General David Leroy will be presenting “Lincoln and Idaho”. It should be a wonderful opportunity for all to be a part of, and is expected to last approximately 1 – 1 ½ hours. Come out and enjoy lunch with us, then stay and enjoy the presentation! And while you’re visiting, be sure to pick up some raffle tickets for the Ruger 10-22 Semi-Automatic Rifle. The drawing will be held May 3rd at the annual Melba Fun Run and Car Show and you do not need to be present to win. Tickets are $5 or 6 for $25. This is a benefit raffle for the Melba Valley Senior Center and we will be serving a chicken dinner at noon. Come out and be part of the fun and you just might win one of the many prizes available. More information will be coming in the near future.
Happy Birthday this week to Gail Schleh, Marge Hoagland, and Alvin Race.
Breakfast Tuesday, the 11th will be Breakfast Casserole, Hash Browns and Sweet Things, as well as the usual fruit, juice and milk.
Lunch on Thursday, the 13th, will be Corned Beef & Cabbage, Potatoes, Carrots, Apple Salad, and the regular accompaniments with lemonade or milk to drink.
We have our Fit & Fall Proof classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m., and pinochle is played on Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m.
We welcome all visitors to any of our activities and would love to have you come join us. If you haven’t been to our center before, now is the time to come and see what we do and listen to the great music we have almost every week!
