The Mayor of Kuna W. Greg Nelson named a young student from Hubbard Elementary School “Mayor for the Day”. Cody Merrick met Mayor Nelson during the election and campaigning for Mayor two years ago. Cody Merrick, age 8, worked with Mayor Nelson at the City Hall during the morning of April 23, 2014 as acting Mayor. He was present during the business of running the City of Kuna progressed through the morning.
Mayor Cody joined a planning meeting attended by department heads involved in the discussion
of relocating the greenbelt with
the future railroad overpass improvements.
Mayor Cody was introduced to the department heads present at City Hall including Richard Roates, City Attorney, Wendy Howell, Planning and Zoning Administrator and Chris Engles, Deputy City Clerk and grant writer.
Mayor Nelson showed Mayor Cody the Community Garden across from the City Hall, and
explained what was being planted and how the community had responded in such a positive way to the project.
When Mayor Cody returned to Hubbard Elementary School, the Principal, Donene Rognlie congratulated him and went with him to his class with his teacher Mrs. Anthony for an explanation to his class about his activities at the City Hall.
