It has been open for a few months and the Chamber of Commerce already had their ribbon cutting, but Douglas and Tammi Croft are hosting an open house to welcome the community to come see the new Kuna Dental building and celebrate their new space.
First opened in 1977, Kuna Dental has been serving the community since it’s first location on Avenue E with Dr. Wayne Marpe. Dr. Croft bought Kuna Dental in 2003 moving he and his family here from Pocatello where he had a practice for 16 years. Both he and his wife are graduates of ISU and native Idahoans.
Their new building is a big jump from the smaller building they were in for many years across the parking lot. (The old building is being taken over by Dr. Jon Miler, an orthodontist.) The two-story building has one of the only elevators in Kuna and has 4,240 sq ft. per floor. The bottom floor has a huge waiting area with one of the largest screen televisions in the area.
The Crofts live in Kuna and their family is heavily involved in the local community. Their five children, some still attending Kuna Schools, have been heavily involved in local sports such as basketball, baseball and football. Not only have the Crofts been involved in their children’s activities Tammi Croft said, “We’ve sponsored sports we don’t even have kids in.”
The Crofts regularly support and sponsor local teams, FFA and other organizations. When one walks up the stairs to the dental chairs, one sees the sponsorship wall. There is very little room left for more photos and plaques.
Upstairs there is room for seven seats and room for expansion. In 10 years they have gone from almost 5 employees to 11. They see growth in their future.
New technology is a key feature to Kuna Dental and Dr. Croft regularly seeks out and attends new technology and advance training for the most recent dental techniques. One new feature they are proud of is the CT Scanner. This device replaces the old 2D x-ray machines with a 3D scanner cone that creates a 3D image that can be moved and manipulated in the computer. With large 32” screens at each dental chair, patients can see in detail their own scans.
“The biggest advantage is implant placement,” said Dr. Croft.
Kuna Dental also features one of the most advanced crown making machines in the Treasure Valley. In fact, they were one of the first in the valley to have one and have so for 9 years. They can make crowns in a day, a big advantage to residents who don’t want to travel to Boise for crowns.
Kuna Dental Open House is Thursday, May 29, from 4-7 p.m. and will have refreshments, giveaways, a bounce-house for the kids and tours of the new facility. People can “like” their page on facebook to enter a drawing for an Amazon Kindle.
Cutline: The 3D CT Scanner is an example of the high-tech equipment available at Kuna Dental. You don’t have to go to Boise for the good stuff.
