MELBA VALLEY SENIORS
By Carolyn Nelson
The 20th annual Melba Fun Run/Car Show is now a page in our history. It was a very successful event with 90 of the most beautiful cars you’ll ever see participating! The lucky winner of the Ruger 10-22 rifle was our very own Dennis Shelley. Congratulations, Dennis!! The event could never have happened without the many hours of volunteer service given by so many helping hands. A BIG thank you goes to everyone who helped in any way! We don’t yet have the final figures after expenses, but it appears to have been an extremely helpful fund-raiser for our center. And we would be amiss if we didn’t recognize Don Borchers from Boise, a member of our center, for his hard work in keeping this event in Melba. The benefits to our center are more than worth the hard work done by everyone! Thank you, Don!!!
The Melba Historical Society will have their lecture series after lunch on May 8. The speaker will be Reese Leavitt, whose father owned a blacksmith shop in Melba for many years.
Saturday, May 10, is our regular food pantry. We welcome all from the community who could use a little help with their food supply. Please come and check us out on Saturday. And again, we owe a big thank you to those who are so willing to use their time and fuel to go to the Idaho Food Bank to pick up our items for our Food Pantry each month, as well as those who spend their Saturday at the Pantry.
We will enjoy the company of visitors from the Veterans Home in Boise for breakfast on May 13.
The birthdays this week and next week are:
May 6 – Dave Tomlinson
May – Lee Neville
May 11 – Richard Allen
