It’s not for the money. It’s not for the fame. It’s not for only personal gain.
It’s just love of fellow man. It’s just to lend a helping hand.
It’s just to give a title of self. That’s something you can’t buy with wealth.
It’s not for medals won with pride. It’s for that feeling deep inside.
It’s that reward down deep in your heart.
It’s that feeling that you have been a part of helping others far and near that makes you become a volunteer. (Author unknown)
In next weeks’ column we will list some of the specific volunteer jobs we have, so you can see if there is one that would be a fit for you once in a while. We don’t expect our volunteers to be ‘forever’ helpers. Burnout comes too easy. So the more we have, the shorter times we can all do. And we treat our volunteers very nicely! If you’ve volunteered and feel that you’ve been treated otherwise, all you have to do is tell us.
Birthdays this week are Nellie Hoagland, June 28; Stephen Miller, June 29; Vickie Jansson, July 3; and Donna Clifford, July 4.
June 26: BBQ beef on a bun, French fries, peas, broccoli salad, fruit cup, juice, milk
July 1: Hot cakes, bacon, eggs, fruit, cereal, sweet things, juice, milk
July 3: French Dip sandwich, French fries, green vegetable, fruit salad, ice cream, juice, milk
Thanks to all of you who make our senior center possible, including those who eat with us. Without you, we would have no need to be here. And don’t forget – you DON’T have to be a senior to eat here!!
