Every year, American Legion Auxiliary 142 Kuna, does fund raising for Girls State, so that we can send junior girls like five amazing delegates from Kuna High School to attend. It’s a week of hard working, running for office and learning how the local, state and federal government works first hand. They most likely will be getting an A in Government in their senior year. With the American Legion Auxiliary sponsoring and the help of the community contributing, the local American Legion tries to defray the cost to the girls. The American Legion wishes to thank the businesses and community of Kuna for helping. These these testimonials are the reason we sponsor every year to give the girls the Girls State experience.

Just letting you know that Girls State has changed my life. I had never been one to get along with girls and I was able to make lasting friendships with some from all over the state. It was truly a blessing to have had the opportunity to attend Girls State. I’ll share a funny story. I had taken the ACT test the day before check in and met this really cool girl. Then when we had our first meeting as a City, the same girl was in my city! It was the most amazing thing ever. And she was able to go forward and is the Governor for Girls State next year. So thank you all again for giving me the opportunity to change my mind about politics and the government.

Oh my gosh! These are the words that come to mind when I am thinking about the week we all just experienced. It was mind blowing the amount of friendships that I made in 6 days and the amount of friends I already had there from past leadership trainings. I sadly didn’t win any elections, but still supported my new friends in theirs. Since the moment I left my city we have been Facebook messaging each other non stop. The experience was unbelievable and I would do every sleep deprived minute of it again in a heartbeat.

This was truly an amazing experience for me. I wouldn’t have even had the chance to do this if it weren’t for the American Legion Auxiliary. I had never even heard of Girls State before. But it was one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made to participate in this program. It was so fun to see all of the talented and gifted girls that we have here representing Idaho. It gave me a chance to work out of my comfort zone with these girls. They were all incredible and are some of my close friends now. I will never forget my experience with Girls State.

I took a little while to email you back because I wanted to reflect on my experience, so I could best tell you about it. I had so much fun at girls state, it is an experience I’ll always cherish and keep with me. I want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to go to Girls State. I would love to come in and tell you all about my experience, I think that that would be great! I was actually a finalist for Girls Nation; I would also love to tell you all about that process. There is so much more I could tell you, but I would love to tell you more about it in person You ladies are so wonderful. If you need anything else, please let me know!
Thank You from the bottom of my heart
