Can you believe this heat? Summer is upon us! Along with that come all the cautions: be careful with fire, wear for sunscreen, drink lots of water…..and the list goes on.
We had a great 4th of July in Melba. We served well over 200 people for lunch. Thank you to all who made that possible! We had a great crew of volunteer, including George & Linda Minga (brother & sister in law of Marty Nelson), Marilyn & Del Besendorfer (sister & nephew of Carolyn Nelson), and a daughter of Harry & Evelyn Mabey (whose name I don’t have)! We had all the regular volunteers from the senior center also so everything went smoothly. We thank all of you who participated in any way from buying, preparing, donating cakes, cleaning up to eating the meal. This is one of our largest fund-raisers for the year, so we appreciate your participation!
We had a successful food pantry this month also. We usually serve over 25 families from the community and this month we received food donations from the Melba Valley Worship Center as well as Oasis Foods in Caldwell. Thanks to them, as well as the Idaho Food Bank, we had a great variety to off the families this month. And we always look forward to seeing you each month.
Last Thursday we were pleased to have members of the Class of 1961 join us for lunch. We always welcome you whenever your classmates (or family) are in town! We hope the class of ’61 enjoyed the time with us!
Please remember that we do rent out our building for special occasions such as meetings, weddings, reunions, etc. for a very reasonable rental fee. Keep us in mind as your needs arise, then call us at 495-2168 to see if we can help you. We have several options available.
Birthdays for the past couple weeks are: 11th Mike Peck, 14th Ellen Eschelman, 16th Doris Proesch, 18th Lyn Sauls. I believe as the Japanese do that each birthday should be a celebration of another year completed. None of us know what the future has in store, and in these challenging time we need to celebrate each day as an accomplishment.

Again, thank you to all who help us in any way! These past couple years have been financially difficult for us, so we appreciate your help in whatever you do.
