Congratulations to our own Cleo Hopson! She won the beautiful quilt that was made & donated by the Bluebird Quilt Studio and Marilyn Nelson. I neglected to include this information in last week’s article, but Cleo was very pleased with her new quilt!
The Melba Historical Society will resume their lecture series on August 8 after a brief break for the 4th of July. Their next speaker will be Lou Mower from the Melba Rod & Gun Club. It will be at the center at 1:00 p.m. after lunch. We anticipate he will be as interesting to listen to as all the previous speakers have been.
On August 16, immediately after lunch we will be holding a 30-45 minute presentation on Fraud in Melba by Deputy Travis Lowber. Many of our seniors receive regular fraudulent phone calls and mail and Travis is going to help us learn how to effectively deal with them and keep our money in our own pockets. Feel free to join us for lunch on August 16, then stay for his presentation.
We have no birthdays the rest of this month.

It seems the older we get, the less we like change or the unexpected. I thought I might close with some quotes about that topic.
The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.
– Joseph Campbell
We all have a fear of the unknown.
What one does with that fear makes all the difference in the world.

Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.

Mostly, it is human to dislike surprises -often with great intensity.
Be open to new ways. Sometimes newness just knocks on your door.
