With the wildfire danger high in many parts of southwest Idaho, local land management agencies are enforcing Stage 1 Fire Restrictions on all state and BLM managed lands within Owyhee County beginning July 16, 2014 at midnight. These restrictions are intended to decrease the chance of any preventable fires in the designated area.
Under the Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, the following acts are prohibited on the restricted state and federally managed lands, roads and trails: Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire or stove fire except within a designated recreation site, or on their own land, and only within an owner-provided structure.
Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, building, or designated recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
Only those with written permits or authorization are exempt. Also exempt are persons using fire fueled by LPG fuels such as propane in areas cleared of flammable material. Land within city boundaries are also exemptions.
